Voglio chiudere la settimana con una curiosità culinaria (si fa per dire) alquanto strana. E' vero che il mondo è bello perchè è vario ma qui stiamo oltrepassando ogni limite.
Siamo in Giappone e oggetto di questo post è un prodotto che sembra stia prendendo piede in questo paese (orrore). Di cosa si tratta? Bene, un produttore di cracker in Giappone sta creando un nuovo prodotto con l'aggiunta di vespe alla ricetta. Il jibachi senbei, o vespa scavatrice crackers di riso, contiene cinque o sei insetti che sono chiaramente visibili ad occhio nudo. Sono realizzate nella città di Omachi, circa 120 miglia a nord-ovest di Tokyo. I Cacciatori del villaggio, cacciano questi insetti nella vicina foresta. Una volta catturati, vengono cotti in acqua, seccati e cosparsi sul cracker mix. Un sacchetto di 20 cracker costa £ 1,60, ma la produzione è limitata, in quanto le vespe sono catturate allo stato selvatico per avere un sapore ottimale.

Rice cracker makers in Japan are creating a buzz about their product by adding wasps to the recipe.The jibachi senbei, or digger wasp rice crackers, each contain five or six black insects which are clearly visible to the naked eye.They are manufactured in Omachi, around 120 miles northwest of Tokyo.Wasp hunters from the village, who are mostly in their 80’s, catch them in nearby forests.They are then boiled in water, dried and sprinkled over the cracker mix, which is then stamped by hot iron cracker cutters.A bag of 20 crackers costs £1.60, but output is limited as the wasps are caught in the wild for optimum flavour.
